Kido is discussed in a purely academic setting. The mechanics behind how they work, how they are capable of doing the individual effects that they are designated for, the reasons for the spell numbering system, and so on.
1st Year Required - Introduction to Hakuda 1

Basic stances and movements are practiced. Students learn to maintain strong and resolute fighting postures. They are taught basic hand techniques throughout the entire year, starting with blocks and ending with strikes, focusing solely on upper body movement and technique while learning to hold their stances accurately.
1st Year Required - Introduction to Swordsmanship 1

Basic sword drawing and wielding techniques are discussed and practiced. Students are introduced to stances shortly following the aforementioned techniques. Basic Kendō techniques are taught, such as Ryōdan. The class finishes the year by the instructor introducing sparring practices into the course sessions.
